IQ Chart Functions and Features
Favorites Window
The Favorites column is a customizable watchlist of companies and/or indices. This feature keeps tabs on the market
by automatically updating its list of symbols and prices throughout the trading day. To open or close the Favorites column, click on the Favorites button. Clicking the "X" in the top-right corner of the column can also close the column. The Favorites column consists of folders and individual ticker symbols. A folders may be open (displaying its contents) or closed (hiding its contents). Arrows denote folders. A down arrow represents an open folder and an arrow pointing to the right represents a closed folder. Clicking on either the arrow or the folder's description will toggle the folder open/closed. Clicking on the ticker symbol will display that chart in the chart window. There are three buttons at the bottom of the Favorites column that allow you to customize and use a set of watchlists in a hierarchy of folders: List, Organize and Update.
-
List (Section 19)
- This button provides a list of 54 categories of 10 stocks. Up to 10 may be selected at the same time. Categories may be marked or unmarked by clicking on the box to the left of each category description. To approve the changes, click on "OK". Click on "Cancel" to negate the changes made. Some lists are dynamic, such as Most Active, in that the stocks making up that list may change throughout the day as market conditions change. Other lists, such as Banking, track a list of stocks that represent an industry or sector. Any categories selected will be at the top of the Favorites column.
-
Organize (Section 20)
- This button allows you to add to or delete from the Watchlist stocks and folders. Folders and stocks may also be modified. To add a new stock or folder, click on the appropriate button at the bottom of the Organize window. The resulting window will allow you to enter a ticker symbol and company name (or name and description in the case of a folder.) To highlight a stock or folder, click it. The highlighted stock or folder may be deleted by hitting the "Delete" button, or moved by dragging it to its new location. To change the name or description of a stock or folder, right-click your mouse button on the stock and select "Properties" from the pulldown menu. Another way to add and select Favorites is to use the "Favorites" menu across the top of IQ Chart. Adding a Favorite will add the ticker symbol to the bottom of the column. A limit of 300 stocks may be tracked using the Organize function. If you try to add more than 300 stocks, an Error Message will be displayed.
-
Update (Section 21)
- Although the Favorites column automatically updates once every minute for real-time subscribers and once every five minutes for delayed subscribers, you may refresh the price information on the list between updates by clicking the update button.
