IQ Chart Functions and Features
Utilities
-
Related Stocks - The related box gives a list of the top 15 publicly
traded companies in the same sector ranked by market capitalization, last
closing price, last closing volume, relative strength ranking or
alphabetically. The default ranking is by market capitalization. To change the
way the stocks are ranked, click on the drop-down menu located at the bottom of
the window. Select a criterion and click "Submit." Double-clicking on any of
the stocks will display that chart in the main window of IQ Chart.
-
Download Data - Daily, weekly, and monthly charts can be downloaded and
viewed offline by clicking on the Utilities menu and selecting "Download Data".
This downloads daily, weekly and monthly charts for the stocks in your
Favorites. A window will pop up with a blue status bar, letting you know that
the download is in progress and when it is complete. The daily, weekly and
monthly databases are updated with the current day's market data by 6 p.m. EST.
-
Parameters - You can change the parameters of most technical indicators
in the Utilities menu by clicking "Parameters". Two drop-down menus list the
indicators available. Select one to change the parameters. Click "Apply" to
change any parameters before closing the window. Click "OK" to make any changes
while closing the window. Click "Default" to revert to the default parameters
for all technical indicators. Click "Cancel" to close the window before making
any changes.
-
Ticker Search - If you do not know the ticker symbol of the company you
are interested in, click on the Utilities menu, and select "Ticker Search."
-
Clear Cache -The cache is a temporary filing system that stores the last
200 daily, weekly or monthly charts viewed. Any daily, weekly or monthly chart
stored in the cache can be viewed offline. To remove the files stored in your
cache, select the Utilities menu and click "Clear Cache." Following are further
notes on the cache:
-
Data that comes from the "date range" function is not saved in the cache.
-
For data that does not exist in the cache file, the program retrieves all the
data.
-
If the application sees that a stock split or tick correction has
occurred, the program removes the cache for this symbol and downloads all the
data again so that these events are handled seemlessly.
-
Do/Stop Slide Show - This function turns on/off the slide show. When the
slide show is not running option will read as "Do Slide Show". Select this
option and the slide show will begin. When the slide show is running this
option will read as "Stop Slide Show". Select this option and the slide show
will be stopped.
-
Slide Show Settings -The slide show automatically scrolls through a list
of stocks every 10 seconds. (Other time period may be available depending on
bandwidth.) Users can create multiple custom slide shows or they can select the
slide show to scroll through all stocks in their favorites.
